Rigorous and meaningful instruction coupled with a genuine commitment to children makes Almaden Elementary School an exceptional environment for learning. Almaden teachers receive extensive professional development in the very best teaching strategies and assessment practices in elementary education today. A strong focus on reading and mathematics is the cornerstone of our sustained, substantive academic program that includes science, social studies and English language development. We also pay special attention to developing student communication and public speaking skills. Our partnership with the Sobrato Foundation is in its second year and we see great progress with our students.
Our programs are supplemented by a hands-on Science Life Lab, Before & After School Learning Centers, and a state of the art iMac computer lab. An additional education program is the Children’s Discovery Museum BioSITE education program where students learn the skills of scientific research in the field, mentored by Pioneer High School biology students. Our active PTA provides supplemental academic opportunities for our school community, and ELAC (English Learners Advisory Council), helps to ensure the best education for English learning students.
