Blacklick Elementary was opened in August 1994. It is the first school to be opened in Jefferson Township since the 1940's. The name Blacklick is common in this area and is derived from the time when Indians inhabited this part of Ohio. Indians often hunted deer and found they could be located near the Rocky Fork Creek that flows nearby, licking the salt from the black rocks in the creek.
Together our mission is to create a safe, supportive school community that will encourage each child who attends Blacklick Elementary to become a respectful, responsible, positive, prepared and safe citizen of our world. Our students will become critical thinkers and problem solvers, able to explore and evaluate information while working independently and cooperatively with others.
