Welcome to Payne Elementary School! The over 600 students at Payne are the heart and soul of our school. Each day they make us proud through their academic effort, innovative ideas, and outstanding behavior. Our staff members work hard daily to provide support to the students and their families. Whether providing enriched standards-based curriculum, serving well-balanced meals, or assisting in lunchtime activities, our staff is dedicated to working as a team to ensure that our students are confident, competent, independent learners.
As a California Distinguished School, Payne is a safe, positive, caring community where children, staff, and parents can learn and grow. We are always excited about the new opportunities that each school year brings. We work hard every year to maintain successful programs while also finding new, proven ways to reach our school community. Please look through our Academics and Enrichment pages to learn more about some of these school programs.
Our school community works together to cultivate the climate of the school. We treasure the parent volunteers who assist the school through the Home & School Club, Art Docent program, ABC Readers, Los Dichos and general classroom assistance. Our staff has been trained in and works together to implement a school-wide behavioral support system called Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). PBIS establishes a social culture and individualizes the behavioral supports for each student. Our Panther Pact reminds students how to be safe, be respectful, and be responsible. Upper-grade students participate in the Cornerstone program to learn about leadership and developmental assets. They then share these values with the younger students at Payne through classroom announcements and school-wide activities. All of these programs have helped to create our strong Payne Panther family!
