Enumclaw School District #216 was organized in 1887, and has provided nearly 120 years of education opportunities for students living within the boundaries of some 456 square miles. As of January 2018, our district had a current student population of 3,946, who are served in five elementary schools (Black Diamond, Byron Kibler, Southwood, Sunrise and Westwood), two middle schools (Enumclaw and Thunder Mountain) and Enumclaw High School. Included in the district are the cities of Enumclaw, Black Diamond and several unincorporated communities.
Located in southeastern King County, the Enumclaw School District is bordered on the north by the Tahoma School District, on the northwest by the Kent School District, on the west by the Auburn School District and on the south by the Pierce County line and the White River School District.
Continuous community support for education in Enumclaw schools has provided the financial basis necessary for quality education. Emphasis on strong academic programs and equally effective vocational opportunities has long been a priority of staff members, administrators, and the Enumclaw School District Board of Directors. The maintenance of a quality support staff, people who are essential to effective school management, continues to ensure excellent services to Enumclaw district students.
