Dual language programs provide students with the unique experience of education rooted in three major goals of biliteracy, bilingualism, and cultural competency. Our K-8 program immerses students in the English and Spanish language and culture using the 90/10 model. Students begin the program with instruction taught mostly in the target language (Spanish) and then gradually increase instruction in English until the instructional day is 50% Spanish and 50% English in grades 5-8. This model provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to earn the California state seal for biliteracy and bilingualism on their high school diploma. Students are taught the same standards as their peers in English-only schools and are expected to meet the same state standards. We create cultural activities year round both during school and with the community to bring cultural awareness and acceptance to our students and neighboring community. Sullivan Language Immersion Academy serves our Kinder through 5th grade and B. Gale Wilson serves our 6th-8th.
